Hey guys, I’ll be on later to answer some stuff, but I want to talk about something really quick before it gets any later. 

At work tonight, I was approached by someone likely scouting out women into sex trafficking. It was a woman, which is what made me think nothing weird was going on, but she was dressed in a blue jacket and jeans. She approached me, and asked if I was interested in joining the Marines. 

I’m too nice to just say, “No, I’m not interested,” so I decided I’ll let her tell me whatever spiel she was going to hit me with, take her pamphlet, and move on, but she had nothing with her of the sorts. Nothing on her indicated she was associated with the Marines. She was a woman roughly 4′11, dressed in normal clothes.

She first asked my name, how old I am, if I had kids, if I had any piercings, or tattoos, and when I showed her the tattoo on my wrist, she said that it was a disqualification, and said goodbye. She asked me other questions like if I had ever broken a bone, if I was in school, if I was on any medications and asked me what they were, etc. A lot of personal questions that I didn’t think too much about, until she left, and I told my coworker and that’s when she told me it likely could have been a sex trafficker.

Sex trafficking has risen in my state, and especially in my town alone. They are known for seeking young woman working retail, and I fit the bill.

It may not seem like much to someone, but she woman was very weird, and was very interested in knowing as much as she could about me. 

Just be safe, guys. You never know when something like this could happen.

Bumping this because this is so scary and also very common. Be careful about the information you’re giving out to strangers- no matter how nice they may seem! It’s okay to be friendly to people, but you should always put your own safety first, as well as trust your gut. If someone is asking too many personal questions and it makes you uncomfortable, or you think it’s even a little strange, find a quick way out of the conversation and let that be it.
